Broomfield [check the resources]
A rail stop between Denver and Cheyenne in the 1870's, Broomfield was known as Zang's Spur. By 1900 it had about 50 residents. It was later named after the local farms' major crop, broom corn, which was used to make brooms. In 1961, the city was incorporated with about 4,500 residents. Located just off Hwy. 36, eight miles southeast of Boulder, it is now a county of its own and covers over 27 sq. miles with an estimated population of 38,000+.
Commercial growth exploded with the opening of FlatIron Crossing Mall and neighboring Interlocken Business Park - home to some of the area's largest employers. The business barometer is high and stable and Broomfield is a thriving, well managed community. They are planning to expand their municipal center, construct a new jail and courts courts complex and offer an extensive, interconnected system of parks and paths, a community center, outdoor water park and ball park complex. A truly great place to live.
